Congratulations! A million congratulations to all of the wonderful girls of the Les Dames du Soleil troupe, past and present, that were honored at
the recent dedication of their Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame. The Les Dames du Soleil troupe members were deservingly immortalized on the
sidewalks of Palm Springs California for their wonderful work as fundraisers, humanitarians, and stage performers extraordinaire. The ceremony holds a special spot in my heart as my sister, Shirley Idaho, was one of the honorees. Shirley has worked selflessly, for many years without compensation, to entertain the Palm Springs public all in the name of charity. I am so proud of you, Shirley. Again, congratulations. On a lighter note, did you know that Shirley has a sister named Heidi Ho? Some how Heidi lost the “Ida” part of her last name, go figure. She seems to loose a lot. |

While in Palm Springs, Patrick and I stayed at the lush, beautiful Desert Paradise Resort Hotel. Dale Dawurski, the hotel owner, has a true talent of
making everyone feel so welcome. The suites are spacious, clean and relaxing. On the grounds there is a ten foot chandelier hanging high from the palm
trees, kind of kooky huh? The resort is highly recommended by both Patrick and I. Go to www.DesertParadise.com to find out more.
Everyone, lets sing together…..Chicago, Chicago that tot-a-lin town! What a great city. Oprah calls it her favorite city. I call it one of the most wonderful cities in the world, with some of the worst weather in the world. There are great landmarks, museums, restaurants, architecture and of course, nightlife. Lake Michigan should be a wonder of the world. It is a huge fresh water lake, with water that could freeze your kahunas off even in July. In opposition to the waters of Lake Michigan are the people of Chicago. Approachable is how I would describe the mid westerners. Have you ever played tourist in your own town or city? It is lot of fun. Let loose and act like a tourist in your home town some time. Patrick and I did, in Chicago, and we had a great time. We went to the top of the John Hancock building, both during the day and night, and vicariously went to Buckingham Fountain, and Wrigley Field. While shopping on Michigan Avenue, we noticed mannequins dressed in couture “outdoor” dresses as an art display, lining the streets, how great is that? Don’t miss the “Second Story Bar” just steps off the “Mag” (Magnificent) Mile. The Second Story is the only gay bar just off of Michigan Avenue. It is small intimate and friendly, stop by some time. I will close as I opened, with congratulation. Sidetracks one of the best gay bars in the country, located in Chicago, has celebrated their twenty fifth anniversary this year. I admire and revere this bar. They have done an absolutely wonderful job. They started as a single store front bar and grew into a beautiful complex of bars. Stop by and say hi to Randy or Chuck, and give them congratulations too. Congratulations, Sidetracks. .......Mark Hunter Archived Articles January 2008 - March 2008 - May 2008
