Where in the world is Mark Hunter

January 2008

Well, another year has come and gone quickly. Have you reflected on the last year and sized up 2007 yet? Is it a year you want to quickly forget or remember for a long time? If you want to forget all about 2007, there are probably a few others that want to do the same as well, for example, Brittney Spears. But you know, you can always turn those negatives into positives, o.k. maybe sometimes, just think positive, it usually gets you farther.

In retrospect, 2007 brought a lot of gifts to me, Patrick, my partner, being number one. Number two is the fact that I am blessed with a wonderful family and friends. Number three; it seems that there are a lot of people out there that like the Hunter’s Nightclubs. To all of you, thank you, very much for your support and making our businesses so successful this last year. Number four; Hunter’s newest location opened in San Jose, California. I promise to continue in making the Hunter’s Nightclubs better and better in 2008.

As a retrospective, I have posted with this article some of my favorite pictures from “Where in the World is Mark Hunter” from 2007. It has been a wonderful year. It included a commitment ceremony, two pride celebrations, several fundraisers, a beach party and a celebration of life ceremony for a wonderful friend and man, named William “Bill” Emrich.

Included in the pictures is a photographic tribute to a dear friend of mine, Bill Emrich who passed this last year. Some of his many accomplishments during the ‘70’s included performing as Vera Vinyl at Chicago’s “Dugan’s Bistro”, our answer to Studio 54, as well as doing performance art at Chicago’s “The Snake Pit”, a punk rock bar. He was THE top fashion photographer in New York during the ‘80’s were he partied with the “A” list of designers and artists. During the late ‘90’s when I met him, he was owner of “Blink”, an ultra chic men’s fashion and accessories store on Arenas Road in Palm Springs. Bill had an exceptional eye for fashion and style, a true talent. I miss him terribly. But I guess that is what the song on News Years Eve, Auld Lang Syne, means.

Don’t forget your old acquaintances, remember them fondly and then forge ahead. Bill, I love you and I will never forget you. Ahead in the New Year there is lots of promise and hope. I will try my best to make the best of it and not waste it. How about you? So let’s not forget 2007, remember it, not making the same mistakes, and then forge ahead, Brittany. .......Mark Hunter
