Do you ever marvel? Admire someone or something? During the last trip that my partner, Patrick and I took to the San Francisco area, I marveled at a small but wonderful business. I found so much that I liked about the business I hope to translate that marvel to Hunter’s. The name of the business is See’s Candies, a west coast based candy store chain. I like the fact that they are a chain, so I can enjoy their absolutely fabulous candy in many cities, but unlike places like Wal Mart, they have maintained a family feeling in their business. The friendly store employees are dressed in crisp black and white uniforms reminiscent of the 1950’s. Their product is fresh and you always get a free sample of something as soon as you walk in the door. Speaking of their product, it is top of the line, a fabulous array of fine chocolate and sweets. Ever been to one of See’s Candy stores? I need not say more. |

Also while we were in the San Francisco area we took a day to do wine country. We had to do some market research you know. We visited the quaint small town
on The Russian River, Guerneville and the small burg of Sonoma. I had no idea that a small town such as Guerneville could be so gay. Thanks to the
wonderful folks at The Rainbow Cattle Company and for those extra cold beers. As you can see from the pictures, we visited many wineries and did our
fair share of tastings. California does produce some of the best wines in the world. My favorite was the Korbel winery.
Next, we went to the Dore Alley Street Fair on Folsum Avenue and Dore alley in San Francisco. We have never seen anything like the street fair before in our lives. We were in amazement every step we took down the fair. For those who haven’t been to the Dore Alley fair or the Folsum Street fair, it is kind of a combination of a wild night at an orgy, IML and a Gay Pride festival. There are probably hundreds of totally naked or partially naked people wandering around shopping in broad daylight. Next to the naked people are the San Francisco police, protecting and serving the community. We saw jock strap Twister (pictured), paddling and flogging demonstrations, booths selling porn and passing out condoms, circle jerks, water sports and about everything you can possibly imagine pierced or tattooed right out on the street. It is amazing that in this day and age that something like The Dore Alley street fair still exists. I think it is all MARVEL-ous. Also when visiting San Jose Patrick and I made great new friends Noel and Jeff. In the pictures you will see us high above San Jose enjoying our new friends and dinner at a fabulous restaurant call Grandview. Last but not least, we are pictured back home in Ft. Lauderdale at the famous gay beach at Sebastian Street. .......Mark Hunter Archived Articles January 2008 - March 2008 - May 2008
